Deep etching removes material to leave a recessed design with no added color. The depth and visible contrast depend on the material and the available decoration option. The name describes the etched result; it does not specify the equipment used.
ColorfillPMSno setup charge · Up to 1 color
Colorfill adds solid color to recessed etched artwork. The name describes the color finish and does not identify the etching equipment. The number of fill colors available depends on the specific product.

From our decoration and product guides
- What does laser engraving look like on a promotional product?
- Laser engraving uses a focused beam to etch the design directly into the surface, leaving a permanent, recessed mark with clean, sharp edges. There is no ink: the mark reads in the material's own tone, a lighter shade on metal and a darker burn on wood, with a depth you can feel. It resists fading, wear and scratching because nothing sits on top of the surface. More about Laser →
- Can laser engraving be done in my brand color?
- No. Engraving carries no added color and shows only the substrate's own tone, so a design that depends on brand colors, color contrast, gradients or photographic detail is a poor fit. It is the right choice for single-tone logos, fine line work and small text where a permanent, dimensional mark matters more than color. For printed spot color choose pad print or screen print. - What is PMS color matching?
- Pantone Matching System (PMS) color matching means the printer mixes ink to your exact Pantone number instead of substituting the nearest stock color, so the merchandise in the field matches the logo in your brand guide. It is the difference between branded merchandise that looks like your brand and merch that almost does. More about PMS color matching →
